About

Leah is a self-taught abstract artist and the founder of Three Suns Art. Based in Heidelberg, Germany, her practice is an intuitive exploration of the human experience, moving between the heavy textures of memory and the vibrant light of the present.

The name Three Suns is a deeply personal tribute to Leah’s Chinese heritage and her given name, 永晶. The character (jīng) is composed of three "sun" (日) characters stacked together, signifying radiance, brightness, and the sparkle of twinkling stars. For Leah, this name serves as an anchor to her Malaysian roots while living away from home. It represents a commitment to living creatively beyond the canvas and finding sparks of joy in the simple rituals of daily life.

Since beginning her artistic journey in 2022, Leah has developed a tactile and experimental visual language. Her current practice focuses on the interplay of acrylics, inks, oil pastels, and graphite, explored across various surfaces, including paper, primed, and unprimed canvas. Her early works were born from a place of healing, while navigating trauma, grief, and the feeling of being in a constant state of transition. Through this, her art became a way to understand that joy can coexist with grief. Today, her practice has evolved into a celebration of belonging, characterised by bold, vibrant palettes and a deep sense of presence.

With a background in Pharmacy and Public Health, Leah brings a unique sensitivity to the restorative power of the creative process. This perspective fuels her role as a creative facilitator. Having started her own journey painting at a small corner of her dining table, she understands the profound value of having a dedicated environment to create without constraint. Today, from her attic studio in Heidelberg, she hosts workshops designed to foster that same sense of freedom. Whether teaching the technical craft of stretching raw canvas or the flow of abstract expression, Leah’s goal is to provide a space where others can step away from the everyday, tap into their creative energies, and experience the meditative joy of flow state.
